By default, Windows 11 hides some options in the right-click context menu for files and folders in File Explorer. However, if you want to access these options more easily, you can configure File Explorer to show them by default. Here's how to do it:
-
Open File Explorer by clicking on its icon in the taskbar or by pressing the Windows key + E on your keyboard.
-
Right-click on any file or folder in File Explorer to open the context menu.
-
In the context menu, click on the "Show more options" item at the bottom.
-
This will expand the context menu and show all the available options.
-
Now, press the Shift key on your keyboard and right-click on the file or folder again.
-
You should see that the expanded context menu now appears by default, without having to click on "Show more options" first.
-
To make this change permanent, click on the "Options" button at the top of File Explorer.
-
In the "Folder Options" window that appears, click on the "View" tab.
-
Scroll down to the "Advanced settings" section and check the box next to "Launch folder windows in a separate process".
-
Click on "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.
That's it! From now on, the expanded context menu will appear by default when you right-click on files and folders in File Explorer. If you ever want to hide some of the options again, you can simply click on "Show less options" at the bottom of the context menu.
