When you plug in a USB-C cable, dock, or monitor, the "Billboard" is a small microcontroller that acts as a sign. It informs your computer about the cable's alternate modes (like DisplayPort or Thunderbolt). If you try to send a video signal through a cable that doesn't support it, the Billboard will tell your computer to display an error. While in most cases drivers are contained as part of the operating system, they can still be manually downloaded in the rare case they have become corrupted. Below are the Cypress & Realtek Driers associated with the Billboard function, but one again they really don't need to be manually installed.
