Fixing DNS Errors
DNS errors are something which can keep you from connecting to the internet. This component is what translates the address of the website so that the browser can connect to it. Here’s how to fix DNS Server not responding on Windows 7.
- In the Start search bar, type CPL and hit ENTER.
- Find the connection you’re using right now, and right click it. Select Properties.
- Choose the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option and again, select Properties.
- Choose Use the following DNS server addresses.
- Type in 67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, for Primary DNS and Secondary DNS, respectively.
- Hit OK.
Turn off the firewall
- Hit the Start button and type in Windows Firewall, then hit Enter.
- Choose the Turn Windows Firewall On or Off
- Leave the following two options selected: Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) from Home or work (private) network location settings, and Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) from Home or work (private) network location settings.
- Hit OK.
Clean the browser cache
The cache in your browser can be cleared off using a system cleaner, and for most people this is all it takes to set their connectivity straight.
Try installing the network adapter device once more
- Hit the Start button and when the menu comes up, click in the search field and type Device Manager. Hit ENTER.
- Once the window comes up, find and expand the Network Adaptors
- Find the adapter you’re using for the connection, and right click and choose Uninstall. Restart the computer once that’s done.
- This will make the system detect the adapter if it’s still connected. Select the newly installed device, or if it’s not there, choose Scan for Hardware Changes from the context menu.
- This will start the new hardware process. Wait till the adapter is detected. Configure it properly afterwards.

- Hit Start and type in CPL, then hit Enter.
- Find and right click the LAN connection you’re on and choose Properties.
- Choose Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and hit Properties.
- Click on Use the following IP address, and input the following: 168.1.3 for IP address, 255.255.255.0 for Subnet Mask, and 192.168.1.2 for Default Gateway.
- Choose the Use the following DNS server addresses Under this, enter 192.168.1.2 as the DNS server.
- Hit OK.
