How to check for Windows updates
- Click the Start menu (Windows icon on the taskbar).
- Select Settings (the gear icon).
- In the left-hand menu, click Windows Update.
- Press the “Check for updates” button.
Windows will now look for the latest updates and automatically start downloading anything available.
What to expect
- If updates are found, they’ll download and install in the background.
- You may see a Restart required message—just save your work and restart when ready.
- If everything is up to date, you’ll see a message confirming that.
