Chrome Web Browser Overhauled For Windows 8

It has been revealed that the search giant Google has revamped its web browser software so Windows 8 versions users can now take advantage of features found in Google’s Chrome OS. This could be probably wonderful news to come in recent times for Microsoft and Windows 8, after the months of horrible reception for the latest Windows OS as it has been considered as a failure when compared to pre Windows 8 versions of Operating Systems. Though, Google’s intentions are not entirely clear.

Chrome 32, which is the latest version of Google’s web browser, will now be providing Windows 8 users to a slightly reworked version of the software that takes some design cues from the Chrome OS.

When launched as a Windows 8 application, Chrome morphs the Metro interface to resemble Chrome OS. For instance, there is even the same roll call of web app icons in the bottom left hand side of the screen as observed in the Chrome OS.

That is probably not the only notable new feature. Chrome 32 also now alerts users having lots of browser windows open at once, to tabs that are playing music, making them easier to pin point and also switch off.

Additionally, the software has also received a couple of internet safety tweaks; this includes new measures to flag harmful malicious downloads to users. There is a great beta preview of its Supervised Users feature that allows restrictions on the type of content some specific users can see.

The offering was initially revealed and released to developers in October. However, it has now been made available to Windows, Linux and Mac users.

And, the important thing is that it will not be just desktop users that will be gaining. Google has also announced some nice changes to the iOS and also Android versions of Chrome. One of the primary improvements have been designed to reduce the amount of data mobile users go through while browsing the web. This functionality, which Google claims, can really reduce data usage by up to a staggering 50 per cent.

Another great feature, Google Translate, will also be made available to iOS Chrome users in coming days, the company has announced, but is already accessible to Android users.

Now, Google is slowly and smartly promoting the new Chrome OS. This can probably be seen as a sign of things to come. Since, Google has a Midas touch with everything, we can expect huge changes in the future.
