Comparison between Windows 7 and Windows 8

Windows 7 and Windows 8 are two operating systems from Microsoft. Windows 8 is the successor of Windows 7 operating system and is released in the month of October 2012. Windows 7 operating system was released in July 2009. More additional features are included in Windows 8 operating system. I am doing a research on this topic and would like to share some points with you.

Windows 7 vs. Windows 8

1)      Windows 8 offers faster boot time, better battery life and smaller memory footprint when compared to windows 7.

2)      Windows 8 is compatible with Windows 7 hardware and software and Microsoft has certified more than 1000 devices for Windows 8 operating system.

3)      Microsoft opened new Windows RT operating system and Windows Store which can be used in ARM processors and Microsoft Surface. Windows RT devices are thinner and offer more battery life but will not support the applications intended for Windows 7.

4)      One of the main differences is the Metro user interface. In Windows 7 and other windows operating systems we have experienced the user interface with the start button. Microsoft got inspired from the Windows mobile phones and introduced metro user interface in Windows 8.

5)      The next update happened in Windows 8 is the introduction of new task manager. For more advanced users in depth task manager can be opened by clicking more details. The task manager is simplified and more features are included thus by making it more user friendly when compared to the previous versions.

6)      The Windows 8 lock screen is also updated and is similar to Windows Phone 7. This screen consists of login screen, network and battery icons etc. Windows 8 provides more security by including picture password login. It is one of the best ways of protecting computer by including picture passwords.

7)      Windows 8 replaced NTFS file system by introducing Resilient File System. Resilient File System is built upon the NTFS file system and is developed using some of the important features of NTFS file system. Resilient File System is more reliable as it is less open to errors.

These are some of the important points that I got after doing the research on Windows 7 vs Windows 8. You can easily make out the advanced features included in the Windows 8 operating system. Hope Windows 8 would be a great development.
