The Realtek ALC201A is an AC'97 (Audio Codec '97) compliant audio codec introduced for desktop motherboards and laptops in the early 2000s. It provided stereo playback, microphone input, line-in support, and basic multimedia audio for operating systems such as Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Linux. The ALC201 relied on compatible AC'97 chipset drivers from Intel, VIA, SiS, or NVIDIA, along with Realtek audio drivers, for full functionality.
