SMC SMCMT03-Z Motion Sensor

The SMC SMCMT03-Z is a wireless passive infrared (PIR) motion detector designed for home security and automation systems. It uses Zigbee wireless connectivity to communicate with a compatible security hub. The sensor provides motion detection up to 50 feet and operates using three CR123A 3V lithium batteries, with an expected battery life of approximately three years.

How to Replace the Batteries

1. Disarm the security system before opening the sensor to prevent false alarms.
2. Locate the small tabs at the bottom of the sensor and gently release the cover using a flathead screwdriver.
3. Remove the sensor body from the back cover and take out the three old CR123A batteries.
4. Insert three new CR123A 3V lithium batteries, following the polarity markings inside the battery compartment.
5. Align the cover tabs and press the sensor back together until it snaps securely into place.
6. Check that the red indicator light illuminates and confirm the sensor reconnects to the security system.

Note: Opening the sensor may trigger a tamper alert. This should clear after the cover is properly reinstalled.
