The CH384 is a PCI-Express chip featuring four asynchronous serial ports and one EPP/ECP enhanced bidirectional parallel (printer) port. Compatible with 16C550/16C750 standards, each serial port includes independent 256-byte FIFO buffers for transmission and reception. It supports IrDA infrared communication and baud rates up to 8 Mbps. For greater scalability, it can interface with an external CH438 chip to expand up to 24 serial ports. Applications include RS232/RS485 serial expansion, high-speed PCIe serial communication with hardware flow control, serial networking, IrDA, and printer port interfacing.
