xD Card

xD Card

The xD-Picture Card (xD Card) is a flash memory format developed by Olympus and Fujifilm, primarily for use in digital cameras. Introduced in 2002, it offered compact size, low power consumption, and storage capacities ranging from 16 MB up to 2 GB. Although once popular in cameras from its founding brands, it was eventually overshadowed by SD cards due to broader compatibility and higher capacities. Today, xD Cards are largely obsolete but remain relevant for legacy devices requiring them.
