Socket AM3+

AM3+ is an upgraded AM3 socket designed for AMD Bulldozer and Vishera CPUs while retaining AM3 compatibility. It has 942 pins—one more than AM3—and a larger 0.51mm pin socket diameter. It features a 3400 kHz serial link, improved power regulation (145A max), and a redesigned cooler retention harness. Some AM3 boards support AM3+ via BIOS updates, though power delivery and fan speed control issues may arise.
