MultiMediaCard (MMC) is a solid-state memory card introduced in 1997 by SanDisk and Siemens. Smaller than earlier standards like CompactFlash, MMC uses a serial interface and is about the size of a postage stamp. It supports up to 16 GB storage and is compatible with SD card slots. eMMC, the embedded version, is soldered onto circuit boards. MMC specifications are maintained by JEDEC and used in phones, cameras, and more.
