Sharp Corporation is a Japanese multinational electronics manufacturer founded in 1912 by Tokuji Hayakawa. Named after his Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil, Sharp has grown into a global leader in consumer electronics, solar panels, and display technologies. Notable innovations include the first commercial camera phone and early LCD calculators. Sharp partnered with Nintendo in the 1980s and was a top solar PV supplier in 2010. Now owned in part by Foxconn, Sharp continues developing TVs, appliances, mobile devices, and office solutions.
