The Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART is a small chipset that is used to upgrade devices that have a old style comm port rs-232 interface enabling them to be used with modern operating systems via a virtual comm port. Other devices will most likely come up under the same device ID's due to the fact that this was the quickest way to adapt current devices using physical comm ports over to USB.
