How to Install Xprinter Drivers on Windows 11 and Windows 10
Manufacturer
Operating System(s)

Installing the correct Xprinter driver is essential for reliable receipt and label printing. Whether you're using a receipt printer such as the XP-80, XP-58, or a label printer like the XP-420B or XP-DT427B, the correct driver allows Windows to communicate with the printer and provides access to paper size, print density, barcode, and cutter settings. Modern Xprinter drivers support Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, and many older models also work on Windows Vista and Windows XP.

Quick Install summary:

  1. Download the Driver
  2. Run the Installer
  3. Accept the License Agreement
  4. Select the Printer Connection
  5. Select Your Printer Series
  6. Connect the Printer
  7. Finish Installation

Before You Begin

Before installing the driver:

  • Download the correct driver for your exact Xprinter model. (From Xprinter's website preferred)
  • Disconnect the USB cable from the printer unless the installer instructs you to connect it.
  • Remove any previously installed drivers for the same printer if they are no longer needed.
  • Close any applications that may be using the printer.

If your printer was sold under another brand name, verify that it is compatible with the selected driver. Many generic thermal printers share similar hardware, but driver compatibility is not 100% guaranteed.

Installing the Driver

Step 1: Download the Driver

Download the latest driver for your Xprinter model. If you are using a legacy printer, an older driver version may provide better compatibility than the newest release. Either from the Xprinter site or our Xprinter repository.

Step 2: Run the Installer

Locate the downloaded file.

Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.

If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, select Yes.

Step 3: Accept the License Agreement

Follow the installation wizard and accept the software license.

The installer will copy the required files onto your computer.

Step 4: Select the Printer Connection

Choose the connection type that matches your printer:

  • USB
  • Ethernet (LAN)
  • Wi-Fi (supported models)
  • Bluetooth (supported models)
  • Serial (RS-232)

Most desktop users should select USB.

Step 5: Select Your Printer Series

Choose the printer family or model from the list presented by the installer.

Some generic receipt printers may use drivers labelled POS-80, POS-58, or another compatible series.

Step 6: Connect the Printer

Turn the printer on and connect it to the computer.

Windows should detect the hardware automatically.

If the installer includes a Check USB Port option, use it to assign the correct USB printer port (such as USB001) before completing installation.

Step 7: Finish Installation

Click Install or Finish.

Restart Windows if prompted.

Print a Test Page

After installation:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
  3. Select your Xprinter.
  4. Open Printer properties.
  5. Click Print Test Page.

If the page prints correctly, the installation was successful.

Configure Paper Size

Many problems are caused by an incorrect paper size.

For receipt printers:

  • 58 mm
  • 80 mm

For label printers:

  • Select the exact label width and height.
  • Calibrate the media if your printer supports automatic label detection.

Incorrect paper settings can cause blank labels, clipped receipts, or misaligned printing.

Troubleshooting

If Windows cannot find the printer:

  • Try another USB port.
  • Avoid USB hubs during setup.
  • Restart both the printer and computer.
  • Verify the correct driver was installed for your model.

If the printer appears Offline, open Printer Properties and verify that the correct USB port is selected. Moving the printer to a different USB port may require updating the assigned port.

If your printer produces blank output, ensure the thermal paper is installed with the coated side facing the print head. Thermal printers only print on one side of the paper.

Final Thoughts

Using the correct Xprinter driver is the key to reliable printing and access to all supported features. Once installed, your printer should appear in Windows as a standard printer, allowing you to print receipts, shipping labels, barcode labels, invoices, and other documents from compatible applications. If problems persist, uninstall the existing driver, restart your computer, and install the latest compatible version before reconnecting the printer.
